2D20 Conan: Dreams of Darkness Update

Hey all!!

I am very happy to say that my current 2D20 Conan Game has been going successfully for over 6 months now.

I have been very fortunate to piece together a real good group of players for this campaign and it has allowed me to really hone in on my writing.  But more importantly my GM'ing style. But having a regular group of 6+ players in a given session has been awesome. And the fact that they are willing to be apart of it with my work schedule, such as it is. Gives me the drive to write up good adventures that they can enjoy!

I had some minor issues with my setup for streaming during my sessions, so the last several were not that appealing to watch. But I think I am finally starting to come to grips with what works best for my particular style. So only going to get better from here.

But I wanted post a quick recap on the campaign, so let me start it!

Session 1:
The group arrive in the capitol city of Argos, in hopes to meet a contact named Remauldo (A dealer in all things rare) to help them track down some stolen artifacts.

Session 2:
After rescuing the contact in the first session from a band of thugs, they are asked to break out a (in)famous sea captain named Alexander from prison. Who has been banished to the lowest level of the kings dungeon. Years earlier, he stole the Kings flagship and vanished. Only to be found several months ago adrift in a small boat stark raving mad.

Session 3:
While tracking down information, more artifacts were stolen but members of the local temple of Mitra have gone missing. Upon investigation they discovered that someone or something has unleashed an ancient evil from beneath the temple.

Session 4: Recovering from the ancient temple horrors, the group let their guard down with a night of drinking, only to wake to find assassins trying to kill them while they slept. During the battle, they discover that Remauldo was killed and his "collection" of rare items ransacked!

Session 5: Trying to recover from the loss of their friend, the group decides to use Remauldo's business as a front, keeping on with the investigation of the missing artifacts. The group decide to head to the local market, only to witness a public execution. One of which was a suspect on the missing artifacts and a girl/love interest of one of the players. Turns out, the love interest was actually a twin of  his love interest. The evil twin betrayed her sister and the suspect, making away with the missing artifacts. Needless to say, the public rescue attempt did not go as planed and the suspect was killed in the escape attempt! (of course they did how ever save the girl.)

Session 6: After jumping on a departing ship, the crew sail the coasts and discover stranded ship adrift. Its crews missing, but a cargo hold full of slaves left on board. The players decide to rescue the slaves by taking the stranded ship and sailing it back to shore. Only to discover that the ship was a lure in a trap to capture sacrifices for the great god under the sea!

Session 7: The players, with a new ship and a crew set sail looking to track down a lead on a fleeing vessel rumored to contain the stolen artifacts. Following the last known heading the crew arrive at a island, but in need of food supplies they head ashore. Only to stumble upon a fearsome group of crazed warriors.

Session 8: In a desperate battle, the party manages to survive the assault but many of them take serious wounds!

Session 9: After escaping the crazed warriors, the group are lead to a small hidden village, where they discover an Argosian sailor, Cirrio. He explains how he sailed with a man named Alexander, who was sent to this very island to search for something. Alexander then killed his crew, leaving this one sailor left for dead. The party is then asked to help the native king with a problem of more missing people, in return he will resupply their ship. The crew set out to a deep underground temple.. and begin their search.

Session 10: Will be September 15th!!

Coriolis: A Theme for Fantasy Grounds and MoreCore

Hi all,

I am very happy to say that I have been given the blessing from the great crew at Free League Publishing to share my home grown theme for the Coriolis RPG for use with Fantasy Grounds, using the fan made ruleset "MoreCore"

To see this Theme in action, you can watch the video of a live play session I held during the latest FG-Con event (April 7th) There are also screen shots below.

Over the next week I will make a small video on how I use the Coriolis Theme to get the most of what Fantasy Grounds and MoreCore.

First, here is the link to the Coriolis Theme V1.5 (the main file still says V1, but do not worry)

In order to use this theme, you will need to download the free rule set, designed by +Damian Hupfeld  over on the Fantasy Grounds Forum. So, you can get his free rule set here. And if I could just focus on MoreCore for a second. This rule set, free for anyone, is in my opinion the most flexible, dynamic and configurable rulesets out there. I have yet to run into a RPG game that I can not specifically tailor a theme too. Its really that good, you are gonna love it! Check out the latest updates and downloads for it here.

So, very quickly how do I use this? First you need to download MoreCore and place the MoreCore.pak file in your Fantasy Grounds Ruleset folder. Next you download the CoriolisV1.ext file and place that into your Fantasy Grounds Extension folder. All you need to do now is start a new campaign, pick MoreCore for the ruleset and then pick the theme from the list. Its pretty simple.

So, for the record. I am not a professional programmer or artist. So it is very likely you may notice errors or issues with the theme. If you do, feel free to leave a comment below and I will try and fix it. If you have issues with MoreCore, head to the Fantasy Grounds forums and inquire there. I may be able to help you out here if its something I am able to help with.

Some known issues with V1.0

  1. Screen Resolution: When I designed this, I made the screen resolution based on my size of my own monitor. 1600x900. So if you have a bigger screen size, the desktop background image may not line up. I am going to fix that with in the next week or so.
  2. Dice support: MoreCore supports dicescripts, so you can use dice scripts. The /coriolis script will be functional on MoreCore V1.39 which is due out this weekend. To get more info on how to use dicescripts, check out the MoreCore thread above.
Below is the video of the game, and a few screenshots. To get a better look, click on the images to see the full size.

My Theme for the Coriolis RPG for Fantasy Grounds

Hi all,

Here is Version 1 of my Theme for Coriolis. I really enjoyed making this one, but it took me several tries to find a font that I liked for all the sidebar icons and buttons. But I am happy with it now.

Let me know what you think!

Black Crusade for MoreCore Update.

Still picking away at the extension for Black Crusade. Getting closer to being done.

I am not all that happy with the chat window yet, and I need to tweak the character sheet images more.

But its getting there.

Death By Moonlight: Gameplay during FG Daze.

Hi all,

Here is the recorded footage of the game I hosted for FG Daze.

I had an absolute blast hosting it and the players were second to none. I am sure I made mistakes in some of the rules, but oh well, it didn't seem to matter as they had fun. And for me, that's all that matters.

Enjoy the show!

Conan 2d20 Theme for use with MoreCore on Fantasy Grounds.

Updated Nov 30, 2018

Hi everyone, I am happy to say my Conan Theme extension is ready for people to use. Just click on the link below to download it. Just note, you do not even have to use this theme, you can do everything with the stand alone MoreCore Ruleset, this just changes the graphics and some fields.

Get MoreCore Here
Get the Conan Theme Here V3.7 11302018

But I want to be clear, this is just a theme, it does not contain any rules, or other data. That stuff you will need to put it in on your own for your own use.

The only thing that is not on this extension is my doom pit tracker and the Dice Mods. So, you can download that module here. This contains the Doom Tracker, and the tokens.

Note: If you are not familiar with what MoreCore can do. Just read down through the thread, its pretty darn slick.

*Change log.
3.7
Using the available changes to MoreCore and excellent code from mcortez over on the FG forums. the updated MoreCore changed the character sheets drastically, taking this time I popped in some code to allow for manual tracking of Doom, Momentum. See picture below (still need to refine the formatting of the trackers, but I will soon I hope) But now, attributes are linked to focus and expertise. No more changing dice codes manually!

I removed the pre formatted character sheet, and I added a template here

3.6
Made some small behind the scenes changes to the character sheet. Also reactivated the spells section on the MoreCore Tab.

3.5
Now has an integrated character sheet template.
Smaller Doom Tracker chart, just makes it more easier to manage.

Here is a short video walk through of the extension.

The Black Crusade Begins..... Again

Its very easy to say, since I broke my ankle in a climbing accident; I would be remiss if I did not take all this extra time and work on some of my own projects for Fantasy Grounds. Especially Black Crusade! The last major Fantasy Grounds update essentially sent my ruleset into the warp, never to return. So here I am.. working on this.

+Paul Pratt  one of the guys who designed the original Dark Heresy Ruleset, and whose ruleset I converted into Black Crusade offered his newer updated Dark Heresy ruleset. Now, Paul, he is a genius and his newer ruleset is a real reflection of that. Me, on the other hand, am not! And it didn't take me very long looking at his new ruleset, that I would be months trying to convert everything to what I want and need in Black Crusade, so with a very heavy heart, I have to say good bye to all of Paul's totally awesome auto scripts and excellent features.

But, here is the good news..

There is a fan based ruleset for Fantasy Grounds has recently gone through some serious overhauls and is actually super flexible and is very robust. MoreCore!! MoreCore is a generic ruleset, that is designed to use on Fantasy Grounds and be flexible enough to handle just about any game system thrown at it. One of the dev's for MoreCore, +Damian Hupfeld has been doing updates, making tweaks and is really pushing MoreCore to the next level. He has also been kind enough to put up with my nagging questions, and requests for features to fit my own personal needs over the holiday. So, I wanted to say thanks!

So, I am now in the process of making Black Crusade to work with MoreCore and so far, based on what I have seen so far. I think MoreCore is going to be a fine new surrogate mother to Black Crusade. Sure, it wont have all the totally awesome auto scripts from before, and that's OK. Ill live (I think)

So I am slowly picking away at it,, and here is my draft desktop and icons..  I still need to do a lot of work, on the chat windows, Combat Tracker and the Character sheets. But I think this is going to be good.

Once I get the theme done, I will then work on making a character sheet template and I will have that for everyone too.

Not much longer now.

Here are some of the screen shots.

View of Player side with sidebar button pressed. ( I will remove the black border around that)

2D20 Conan Theme Completed!

Here is my latest project I am working on for myself.

I have completed my Conan 2d20 extension for Fantasy Grounds, and I got to say I am very happy with it. Using a fan made Ruleset called MoreCore I was able to layer over it a new theme!!

This theme is one of my favorites! I can not wait for the books to be released, as I think there is a fine bit of interest in the game, and I am slowly starting to really fall in love with it too.

Its a pretty slick game system, and besides, its Conan!!!
