What Scale Do You Use?

In the last few years, my roleplaying has become nearly 100% virtual. Which means my large collection of miniatures ranging from bucket loads of WH40K minis to buckets full of white metal 15mm miniatures have become primarily forgotten about. 🙁

And seeing that I have been home from work for an unprecedented amount of time due to an unfortunate rock climbing accident and it may be even be longer now then expected. I decided to break out my airbrush again and start working on a few of the many unfinished projects on my work bench.

Then I got to thinking, I see many people using various miniatures for gaming and I wanted to ask what scale you use and why?

Me, I used to use 25mm (40k) but i found that game areas still took up a lot of space, so I decided to start using 15mm and then to 6mm. I find that these two scales work pretty well for RPGs. 15mm and 6mm minis the prices are unbelievable cheap plus there is almost a unlimited amount of minis styles you can buy from all over the place.

I like 15mm the most as it gives me enough detail to paint to satisfy my hobby painting and crafting side of me, plus I can build fairly large battlemaps in a fairly small space.

For example here is a full city block I made for 15mm scale which i seldomly get to use now.

But what scale do you use? And tell me why in the comments below!

Advanced Fighting Fantasy!!

Hello All!

Playing Fighting Fantasy growing up was like a gate way drug! I loved it! The world was well established through the myriad of choose your own adventure style books, with great locations like Port Black Sand,  The Forest of Doom, Deathtrap Dungeon and who can forget Firetop Mountain?

Well, I loved the world setting and I loved the books and I established a pretty good collection of them all over the years.

The reason why I am here is that although, I have known about Fighting Fantasy being re released through Arion Games. I did not know it was on DriveThruRPG!

For any of you young'ins out there you want another fun system to play which is simple, and I mean simple but yet deep, then this is it!

Welcome to the world of Titan Check out the link here!!

One of the best covers out there! IMHO

Spread The Jolly Word: Bundle of Holding Special

Links: Bundle of Holding
+Bundle of Holding

So, I decided that around the middle of every month I will make a post called Spread The Jolly Word.

This post will be something related to roleplaying that I think is pretty darn cool. It could be a story, item, someones blog, or what ever.

So for my first post, I wanted to talk about "A Bundle of Holding" and the name is aptly suited for the website as you never know what gem is going to show up and at pretty outrages sale prices! And what also makes this worth it, is that they support charities! Thats pretty darn jolly worthy if you ask me!

2015 was the year I had my first experience with them. They had a MegaTraveller deal. It was just something I could not pass on!! For only 20 bucks I managed to get everything in PDF. I mean everything! And as a complete surprise, a month or two later "B.O.H." sent me official Traveller dice! Which they sent all the way up to me in Canada at their own cost. That's a pretty cool thing to do!

I was a pretty happy camper.

Well, now I'm an even happier camper as they have another fantastic deal! It is ACKS. "Adventurer, Conqueror, King System" Now, ACKs has been something I have been reading about, hearing about and it always peaked my interest for some time. Well, its currently on at BOHs website and you get a Dragon's Treasure Trove of product for less then 22 dollars! Well, yet more items added to my library!

Seeing that I am an advocate for roleplaying games for all ages, races and creeds so if anyone wanted to get a good fun system, well here you go, get it here. I am sure you will get hours of entertainment from the material! Just look at Dwimmermount! Its a FRACKing mega dungeon for Crom's Sake!!

(Yes, I used a BSG and a Conan reference in the same sentence. Its my blog! 😋)

The thing is they always have more stuff showing up! So swing by and check em out! You really can not go wrong by supporting Bundle of Holding! Good sales, good causes and good times!

I hope your day is a Jolly good one! :)

Recorded Live: Savage Rifts! Slash and Burn.

I get to play a glitter boy!

Something New For Jolly! I Blame Someone!

Ok,

Everyone, just so you know you may see something new show its face around here. I have had TableTop Simulator (On Steam) for quite sometime now. Gifted to me out of the blue from +MartianKat about 2 years ago. So I guess I am gonna blame Kat :) Its a good blame though. :)

But as much as I wanted to use it, in the beginning it was clunky and awkward to use, plus I couldn't find anyone else who wanted to use it for anything.

Me, I wanted to use it for Twilight Imperium, BSG and Star Craft. But no one else was really into it at the time, so not long after.. TTS got relegated to (not installed) on my PC and was so for some time.

Now, out of the blue, some of the crew from said hey, lets start using this.. and boom!! its Tabletop Simulator overload!

Which is great!!

Now, with the resurgence of interest, I actually started to play around with it again and I find myself longing to play a RPG on it!

Seeing I have been pushing Conan 2d20 in the last few weeks, I decided to make my own table, using the tokens I used from my Fantasy Grounds games. Maybe every now and again, I may just broad cast a game using this, instead of Fantasy Grounds. It looks like it would be a total riot to play..

Anyhow, here is a work in progress shot of the game table. :)

Again, I blame Kat!

Black Crusade for MoreCore Update.

Still picking away at the extension for Black Crusade. Getting closer to being done.

I am not all that happy with the chat window yet, and I need to tweak the character sheet images more.

But its getting there.

Death By Moonlight: Gameplay during FG Daze.

Hi all,

Here is the recorded footage of the game I hosted for FG Daze.

I had an absolute blast hosting it and the players were second to none. I am sure I made mistakes in some of the rules, but oh well, it didn't seem to matter as they had fun. And for me, that's all that matters.

Enjoy the show!

Conan 2d20 Theme for use with MoreCore on Fantasy Grounds.

Updated Nov 30, 2018

Hi everyone, I am happy to say my Conan Theme extension is ready for people to use. Just click on the link below to download it. Just note, you do not even have to use this theme, you can do everything with the stand alone MoreCore Ruleset, this just changes the graphics and some fields.

Get MoreCore Here
Get the Conan Theme Here V3.7 11302018

But I want to be clear, this is just a theme, it does not contain any rules, or other data. That stuff you will need to put it in on your own for your own use.

The only thing that is not on this extension is my doom pit tracker and the Dice Mods. So, you can download that module here. This contains the Doom Tracker, and the tokens.

Note: If you are not familiar with what MoreCore can do. Just read down through the thread, its pretty darn slick.

*Change log.
3.7
Using the available changes to MoreCore and excellent code from mcortez over on the FG forums. the updated MoreCore changed the character sheets drastically, taking this time I popped in some code to allow for manual tracking of Doom, Momentum. See picture below (still need to refine the formatting of the trackers, but I will soon I hope) But now, attributes are linked to focus and expertise. No more changing dice codes manually!

I removed the pre formatted character sheet, and I added a template here

3.6
Made some small behind the scenes changes to the character sheet. Also reactivated the spells section on the MoreCore Tab.

3.5
Now has an integrated character sheet template.
Smaller Doom Tracker chart, just makes it more easier to manage.

Here is a short video walk through of the extension.

The Black Crusade Begins..... Again

Its very easy to say, since I broke my ankle in a climbing accident; I would be remiss if I did not take all this extra time and work on some of my own projects for Fantasy Grounds. Especially Black Crusade! The last major Fantasy Grounds update essentially sent my ruleset into the warp, never to return. So here I am.. working on this.

+Paul Pratt  one of the guys who designed the original Dark Heresy Ruleset, and whose ruleset I converted into Black Crusade offered his newer updated Dark Heresy ruleset. Now, Paul, he is a genius and his newer ruleset is a real reflection of that. Me, on the other hand, am not! And it didn't take me very long looking at his new ruleset, that I would be months trying to convert everything to what I want and need in Black Crusade, so with a very heavy heart, I have to say good bye to all of Paul's totally awesome auto scripts and excellent features.

But, here is the good news..

There is a fan based ruleset for Fantasy Grounds has recently gone through some serious overhauls and is actually super flexible and is very robust. MoreCore!! MoreCore is a generic ruleset, that is designed to use on Fantasy Grounds and be flexible enough to handle just about any game system thrown at it. One of the dev's for MoreCore, +Damian Hupfeld has been doing updates, making tweaks and is really pushing MoreCore to the next level. He has also been kind enough to put up with my nagging questions, and requests for features to fit my own personal needs over the holiday. So, I wanted to say thanks!

So, I am now in the process of making Black Crusade to work with MoreCore and so far, based on what I have seen so far. I think MoreCore is going to be a fine new surrogate mother to Black Crusade. Sure, it wont have all the totally awesome auto scripts from before, and that's OK. Ill live (I think)

So I am slowly picking away at it,, and here is my draft desktop and icons..  I still need to do a lot of work, on the chat windows, Combat Tracker and the Character sheets. But I think this is going to be good.

Once I get the theme done, I will then work on making a character sheet template and I will have that for everyone too.

Not much longer now.

Here are some of the screen shots.

2D20 Conan Theme Completed!

Here is my latest project I am working on for myself.

I have completed my Conan 2d20 extension for Fantasy Grounds, and I got to say I am very happy with it. Using a fan made Ruleset called MoreCore I was able to layer over it a new theme!!

This theme is one of my favorites! I can not wait for the books to be released, as I think there is a fine bit of interest in the game, and I am slowly starting to really fall in love with it too.

Its a pretty slick game system, and besides, its Conan!!!

Rifts Extension! Updated!!

Hi all,

I finally got the chance to at least update the top end of my Savage Rifts Theme for Fantasy Grounds.

Its mainly just what a person would see, Desktop, Tokens, Button, Bennies and the character Sheet. If they start pressing more buttons and going deeper, things start to revert back to the standard Savage Worlds icons.

Anyways, now that I have my Conan and Rifts themes updated, its time to get stuck back on the WH 40K modules..

I just started to update the Black Crusade Ruleset..  this one is going to take me some time.. but its in progress.
